36 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Sunday

Last updated: Sunday April 11th, 1:09pm: The Health Unit issued a correction to the number of total variant cases (256 is the correct number instead of 356).

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 36 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Sunday, bringing the local total to 14,385.

New Cases

Cases increased from 14,349 on Saturday April 10th to 14,385 on Sunday April 11th and 427 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 8 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 2 cases are community acquired, and the acquisition sources of 26 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

The Health Unit says 256 preliminary or confirmed variant of concern cases have been identified to date (an increase of 21 identified since yesterday).


Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:

  • 104,139 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+2,240 since yesterday)
    • 91,686 people have received only their first dose of a vaccine (+2,231 since yesterday)
    • 12,453 people have received both doses of a vaccine (+9 since yesterday)
  • A total of 116,592 vaccine doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+2,249 since yesterday)

How To Get A Vaccine

There are two vaccination programs at this time:

  • Mass Vaccination Clinics (Pfizer or Moderna)
    • Adults aged 50 and older living in “hot spot” postal code regions: N8X, N8Y, N9A, N9B, N9C, N8H, or N9Y
    • Adults aged 60 and older living anywhere in Windsor-Essex

    • Or you can call 226-773-2200 (but the Health Unit says the call centre is only for assisting people who can’t use the website and the call centre has the same access to appointments as what’s shown on the website)
  • Pharmacy Vaccinations (AstraZeneca)

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 13,551 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 35 resolved cases since yesterday.


There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 today and the local death toll stands at 407.


The Health Unit lists 13 hospitalizations today: 8 people in acute care, and 5 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
