Windsor and Essex County will be remaining in Red – Control under the province’s COVID-19 framework for at least another week.

The province announced changes to a number of regions, around 2:30pm Friday.

“The latest modelling suggests we are at a critical stage in our fight against this devastating virus, and that the actions we take now will help ensure people stay safe,” said Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health in a news release. “As we near completion of Phase One and prepare to rollout Phase Two of our vaccine distribution plan next month, we urge everyone to continue following all public health measures and advice to help prevent further transmission and protect our health system capacity.”

The following regions are heading to these levels on Monday, March 15th, 2021 at 12:01am:

Grey – Lockdown

  • Lambton Public Health

Red – Control

  • Northwestern Health Unit

Yellow – Protect

  • Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit.

The province says all other regions, including Windsor-Essex, will remain at their current levels.

Changes To Event Capacity Limits For Lockdown Regions

Officials also announced they’re adjusting capacity limits for some events in Grey – Lockdown regions.

In a news release, the province says they are adjusting capacity limits for weddings, funerals, and religious services, rites or ceremonies held in regions currently in the Grey – Lockdown level of the provincial framework.

The province says effective Monday, March 15th, 2021 at 12:01am, weddings, funerals, and religious services, rites or ceremonies will be permitted to allow for up to 15 per cent total occupancy indoors, or up to 50 people outdoors.
