8 New Cases Of COVID-19, 1 New Death In Windsor Essex On Monday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 8 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Monday, bringing the local total to 13,413.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 13,405 on Sunday March 14th to 13,413 on Monday March 15th and 292 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 1 case is outbreak related, 5 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 1 case is community acquired, and 1 case is still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:

  • 20,626 people have received only their first dose of the vaccine (+1,682 since yesterday)
  • 11,854 people have received both doses of the vaccine (full series) (+6 since yesterday)
  • A total of 44,334 doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+1,694 since yesterday)

How To Get A Vaccine

There are two vaccination programs for different age groups at the moment:

  • People 80 years of age and older

    Or you can call 519-251-4072.

    The Health Unit says you should pre-register using their system and not the province’s system. They say if you try to register on the province’s system, you will be re-directed to the local system.

  • People aged 60 to 64

    If you’re aged 60-64, you can get a vaccine at a participating pharmacy. See the province’s list here:

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 12,723 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 28 resolved cases today.

Deaths

The Health Unit announced one additional death from COVID-19 today bringing the local death toll to 398. They say a woman in her 80s from the community passed away.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 32 hospitalizations today: 26 people in acute care (1 more today), and 6 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
