5 Additional Deaths, 23 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Tuesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 23 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Tuesday, bringing the local total to 13,037.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 13,014 on Monday March 1st to 13,037 on Tuesday March 2nd and 280 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 5 cases are outbreak-related, 3 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 5 cases are community-acquired, and 10 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:

  • 4,697 people have received only their first dose of the vaccine (+674 since yesterday)
  • 11,569 people have received both doses of the vaccine (full series) (+16 since yesterday)
  • A total of 27,835 doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+706 since yesterday)

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 12,370 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 28 resolved cases today.

Deaths

The Health Unit announced 5 additional deaths from COVID-19 today bringing the local death toll to 387.

They say all 5 deaths are from the community:

  • 2 men in their 60s passed away
  • 3 women in their 80s passed away

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 44 hospitalizations today: 37 people in acute care (3 more today), and 7 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
