3 New Deaths, 29 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Friday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 29 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Friday, bringing the local total to 13,095.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 13,066 on Thursday March 4th to 13,095 on Friday March 5th and 235 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 2 cases are outbreak-related, 11 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 7 cases are community-acquired, and 9 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:

  • 7,120 people have received only their first dose of the vaccine (+945 since yesterday)
  • 11,607 people have received both doses of the vaccine (full series) (+15 since yesterday)
  • A total of 30,334 doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+975 since yesterday)

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 12,468 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 55 resolved cases today.

Deaths

There has been three additional deaths from COVID-19 today bringing the local death toll to 392.

The Health Unit says three people from the community passed away: a man in his 60s, a man in his 70s, and a woman in her 80s.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 46 hospitalizations today: 36 people in acute care (1 more today), and 10 people (1 more today) in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
