The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 28 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Monday, bringing the local total to 13,014.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 12,986 on Sunday February 28th to 13,014 on Monday March 1st and 290 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 1 case is outbreak-related, 9 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 2 cases are community-acquired, and 13 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:

• 4,023 people have received only their first dose of the vaccine (+343 since yesterday)
• 11,553 people have received both doses of the vaccine (full series) (+3 since yesterday)
• A total of 27,129 doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+349 since yesterday)

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 12,342 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 13 resolved cases today.

Deaths

There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 today and the local death toll stands at 382.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 41 hospitalizations today: 34 people in acute care (10 less today), and 7 people in the ICU (1 more today) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
