28 New Cases Of COVID-19, 1 New Death In Windsor Essex On Tuesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 28 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Tuesday, bringing the local total to 13,837.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 13,809 on Monday March 29th to 13,837 on Tuesday March 30th and 291 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 10 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 7 cases are community acquired, and 11 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

The Health Unit says 69 preliminary or confirmed variant of concern cases have been identified to date (8 more today).

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:

  • 75,407 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine (+2,556 since yesterday)
    • 63,325 people have received only their first dose of a vaccine (+2,557 since yesterday)
    • 12,082 people have received both doses of a vaccine (-1 since yesterday)
  • A total of 87,489 vaccine doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+2,555 since yesterday)

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 13,143 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 29 resolved cases today.

Deaths

The Health Unit announced one additional death from COVID-19 today bringing the local death toll to 403. Health Unit CEO Theresa Marentette says a man in his 60s from long-term care passed away.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 19 hospitalizations today: 14 people in acute care (3 more today), and 5 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
