23 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Sunday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 23 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Sunday, bringing the local total to 13,149.
Today’s New Cases
Cases increased from 13,126 on Saturday March 6th to 13,149 on Sunday March 7th and 232 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.
The Health Unit says 3 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 7 cases are community-acquired, and 13 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.
Vaccinations
Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:
- 8,288 people have received only their first dose of the vaccine (+268 since yesterday)
- 11,615 people have received both doses of the vaccine (full series) (+2 since yesterday)
- A total of 31,518 doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+272 since yesterday)

Resolved Cases
The Health Unit lists 12,524 total resolved cases.
That’s an increase of 13 resolved cases today.
Deaths
There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 today and the local death toll stands at 393.
Hospitalizations
The Health Unit lists 39 hospitalizations today: 29 people in acute care, and 10 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
