1 Additional Death, 42 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Saturday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 42 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Saturday, bringing the local total to 13,380.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 13,338 on Friday March 12th to 13,380 on Saturday March 13th and 310 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 3 cases are outbreak related, 12 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 6 cases are community acquired, and 22 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:

  • 16,590 people have received only their first dose of the vaccine (+3,195 since yesterday)
  • 11,843 people have received both doses of the vaccine (full series) (+25 since yesterday)
  • A total of 40,276 doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+3,245 since yesterday)

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 12,673 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 27 resolved cases today.

Deaths

The Health Unit announced one additional death from COVID-19 today bringing the local death toll to 397. They say a man in his 70s from the community passed away.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 31 hospitalizations today: 25 people in acute care (2 less today), and 6 people in the ICU (2 less today) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
