The Town of LaSalle has installed a new pedestrian crossing signal at the intersection of Malden Road and Reaume Road.
Pedestrians should press the button to signal that they intend to cross Malden Road and proceed with caution and make sure that traffic has stopped before walking onto the road, and make sure that traffic has stopped in both directions.
“This project was done as an interim solution until the Malden Road improvements can be completed, which includes the reconstruction of this intersection. At that time, these signals may no longer be needed as part of the new intersection design,” said Mark Beggs, Manager of Parks and Roads. If the signals are not needed at that intersection, they will be repurposed elsewhere in the Town if required.
A pedestrian crossover is a type of crossing that is identified by clear signs and road markings. Drivers and cyclists are required to stop for pedestrians intending to cross the road. Drivers and cyclists must allow pedestrians to cross the full width of the road before proceeding.
