The Windsor-Essex Health Unit is looking for healthcare professionals interested in volunteering with public health to participate in the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccines.
As the COVID-19 pandemic has unfolded, the Health Unit says they have received many requests from area residents asking how they can help and volunteer. To streamline the volunteer application process, the WECHU has developed an online application form. Now, area residents who are registered healthcare professionals can easily apply to assist public health.
“The outpouring of support and kindness we’ve received from the community has been tremendous. We wanted to develop a process that is quicker, easier, and clearer for potential healthcare volunteers to connect with public health. I think we achieved that with our online application form,” says CEO Theresa Marentette.
It is anticipated that public health will need registered healthcare professionals to volunteer to assist with mass Immunization clinics during Stage 3 of the local COVID-19 vaccine rollout plan, when the vaccine supply exceeds the capacity of existing resources.
In the coming months, vaccination clinics will be established throughout Windsor and Essex County to support pre-existing vaccination channels established in Stages 1 and 2 of the vaccine rollout plan.
