30 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Sunday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 30 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Sunday, bringing the local total to 12,986.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 12,956 on Saturday February 27th to 12,986 on Sunday February 28th and 275 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 1 case is outbreak-related, 13 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 4 cases are community-acquired, and 12 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:

  • 3,680 people have received only their first dose of the vaccine (+405 since yesterday)
  • 11,550 people have received both doses of the vaccine (full series) (+13 since yesterday)
  • A total of 26,780 doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+431 since yesterday)

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 12,329 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 12 resolved cases today.

Deaths

There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 today and the local death toll stands at 382.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 50 hospitalizations today: 44 people in acute care, and 6 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
