The Town of Essex has published a draft copy of their new Climate Change Adaptation Plan for 2021-2026.
The plan, which provides a roadmap for preparing for the local impacts of climate change, is a culmination of work conducted throughout 2020 and 2021 by members of the Essex Climate Adaptation Team as well as Town of Essex administration.
The plan covers the basics of climate change science, discusses local impacts and projections, then outlines action a number of action items in 11 categories.
Action items will be implemented by the Town through two sets of objectives: Community Engagement and Partnership Objectives, which consist of actions directed towards building a culture of sustainability within the community; and Corporate Objectives, which are actions geared towards Town-owned assets, operations, and service delivery.
Members of the community are invited to review the document and provide their feedback prior to official adoption in February.
