Museums and galleries around the world have temporarily closed their doors, but luckily our cultural community has ensured that you and the whole family can stay in touch and entertained this season while still staying safe with a host of virtual experiences. The cyber-exhibitions vary from 360-degree walking tours while others are hosting virtual performances or “meet & greet” opportunities for authors and artists to showcase their work while interacting with viewers.

Art Gallery of Windsor

The Art Gallery of Windsor is pleased to bring you a host of options to connect with their space! From Art through Wellness creative sessions, weekly virtual tours and even virtual wine tasting – whether you’re looking for a date night with your partner, friend, family member, or your fabulous self, you’re in the right place. Learn about the artistic approach and vision of the AGW’s permanent collection through an informative and interactive virtual tour! The Look Again! exhibition includes many of your favourite works and those which have truly defined the Gallery’s collection. Examine from up close the works of Emily Carr, Alex Janvier, members of the Group of Seven and their contemporaries, and much more.  Love wine? Love art? Explore their events like Palate to Palette where the AGW has partnered with North 42 Degrees Winery to create a four-month subscription series where you will learn more about fine wines from North 42, paired with fine artworks from the AGW’s collection.

Windsor’s Masonic Temple

Located on the corner of Ouellette Avenue and Erie Street, Windsor’s Masonic Temple  is one of downtown’s historic landmarks which, aside from long being the regional home to Freemasons, is also used as a space for meetings, graduations, trade shows and weddings.  When the current climate did not allow for people to attend the Masonic Temple space in person, the public has now been able to take a virtual tour and see the century-old building for themselves!

Windsor Symphony Orchestra

A host of virtual performances have kept the music playing through the homes of Windsor Essex and the Windsor Symphony Orchestra is now pleased to present their Digital Concerts for Kids series featuring 4 exciting concerts, and 2 discovery episodes!   Join Jan and Dan for a fun filled adventure featuring Canadian performers and shine a light on music, dance, stories, and more! You’ll also be able to virtually explore the Capitol Theatre and even meet the musicians of the WSO.

Artcite

Join Artcite Inc. for their first exhibition of 2021 –  ‘End of Daze’, curated by Imogen Clendinning. This virtual exhibition features work by artists Kiera Boult, Samantha Noseworthy and Rihkee Strapp and will launch through the Artcite website on January 8th, alongside a live Instagram event featuring End of Daze artist Rihkee Strapp and their collaborator Tejhler Leadbeater.

Get Outside

Bundle up and rediscover some of the City’s unique and historic neighbourhood’s such as Ford City, Old Walkerville and Sandwich Towne which each offer you a glimpse into their past through their free, self-guided walking tours.  There is rich history in each of our small towns as well so explore Essex County’s Southernmost town with the Kingsville Heritage Walking Tour as well. Stroll along the Windsor Riverfront walking path and immerse yourself in larger than life art exhibits and creative pieces that make up the Windsor Sculpture Park.

Finding things to do over the cooler winter months is sometimes challenging and staying safe is top priority these days but luckily for us it doesn’t have to mean boring.  So grab a coffee, get into your comfiest clothes or under a nice warm blanket and take some time to discover our virtual cultural experiences and maybe it will ignite the creativity.
