The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 270 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Sunday, bringing the local total to 11,022.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 10,752 on Saturday January 16th to 11,022 on Sunday January 17th and 2,172 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 20 cases are outbreak-related, 9 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 3 cases are community acquired, and 238 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

Recoveries

The Health Unit lists 8,055 total recoveries.

That’s an increase of 127 recoveries today.

Deaths

There have been no new deaths from COVID-19 today and the local death toll stands at 255.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 120 hospitalizations today: 102 people in acute care, and 18 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
