Leamington Council approved the proposed 2021 budget with a 0% increase to the municipal levies.

“It was very challenging for Council to retain the same level of service our residents have come to expect while weighing the economic impact the COVID-19 pandemic will have on our community,” said Mayor Hilda MacDonald. “This is very significant for Leamington and I’m proud of Council and Administration, who worked together to make this fiscally conservative budget a reality.”

Some significant capital projects for 2021 include:

• Continued investment in drainage works;
• Road resurfacing projects;
• Leamington Transit bus replacement;
• Traffic signal installation – Sherk/Ellison and Seacliff/Cherry Lane;
• Installation of an emergency generator for the community emergency operations centre;
• Improvements and upgrades at the Pollution Control Centre;
• Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre air exchanger replacement;
• Renewal of the Leamington Arts Centre; and
• Investment renewal at municipal parks, including Eastside, Henry and Cameo/Pearl Parks as well as the dugouts at Mersea Park and the driveway for the Kinsmen Baseball Complex.
