4 Deaths, 64 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex As Of Saturday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has announced 64 new cases of COVID-19 as of Saturday, bringing the local total to 4,517.

Cases increased from 4,453 on Friday December 11th to 4,517 on Saturday December 12th and 606 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 15 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 3 cases are community acquired, and 46 cases are still being investigated.

They say 3,821 people locally have recovered (an increase of 74 recoveries today).

There have been four deaths from COVID-19 as of Saturday bringing the local death toll to 90. The Health Unit says a woman in her 90’s from the community, two men in their 70’s from the community, and a man in his 80’s from the community all passed away.

As of Saturday, the Health Unit lists 43 hospitalizations: 34 people in acute care (an increase of 4 today), and 9 people in the ICU (an increase of 2 today) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex. Twenty-nine hospitalizations are listed at Windsor Regional Hospital.

Long-term Care / Retirement Home Outbreaks

As of Saturday, the outbreak at Riverside Place has ended, there are two new outbreaks, and seven long-term care/retirement homes remain under outbreak:

  • Extendicare Tecumseh (Tecumseh) has 6 resident cases and 1 staff case (new outbreak today)
  • Berkshire Care Center (Windsor) has 1 resident case and 1 staff case (new outbreak today)
  • The Village at St. Clair (Windsor) has 4 resident cases and 1 staff case
  • Country Village (Woodslee) has 1 resident case and 2 staff case
  • Devonshire Retirement Residence (Windsor) has 0 resident cases and 1 staff case
  • Chartwell St. Clair Beach (Tecumseh) has 21 resident cases and 1 staff case
  • Village of Aspen Lake (Windsor) has 1 resident cases and 2 staff cases
  • Chartwell Royal Oak Residence (Kingsville) has 0 resident cases and 2 staff cases
  • Leamington Mennonite (Leamington) has 0 resident cases and 2 staff cases

Workplace Outbreaks

As of Saturday, two outbreaks have ended and the following workplaces remain under outbreak:

  • 2 outbreaks at agri-farms in Leamington
  • 2 outbreaks at agri-farms in Kingsville
  • 1 outbreak at a health care and social assistance workplace in Lakeshore
  • 1 outbreak at a finance and insurance workplace in Leamington
  • 1 outbreak at a manufacturing facility in Windsor
  • 1 outbreak at a manufacturing facility in Kingsville
  • 1 outbreak at a manufacturing facility in Tecumseh

School Outbreaks

As of Saturday, two schools remain under outbreak:
