3 New Deaths, 191 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex As Of Thursday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has announced 191 new cases of COVID-19 as of Thursday, bringing the local total to 5,203.
Cases increased from 5,012 on Wednesday December 16th to 5,203 on Thursday December 17th and 952 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.
The Health Unit says 32 cases are related to outbreaks, 20 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 4 cases are community acquired, and 103 cases are still under investigation.
They say 4,160 people locally have recovered (an increase of 129 recoveries today).
There have been 3 additional deaths from COVID-19 as of Thursday bringing the local death toll to 94. Health Unit CEO Theresa Marentette says a man in his 70s, a woman in her 80s, and a man in his 90s, all residents of long-term care, passed away.
As of Thursday, the Health Unit lists 60 hospitalizations: 48 people in acute care (an increase of 3 today), and 12 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex. They say 82 patients with suspected COVID-19 are currently hospitalized awaiting test results and these patients are cared for by hospital staff with the same precautions as positive cases until proven otherwise.

- The Shoreview at Riverside (Windsor) has 1 resident case and 2 staff cases (new Wednesday afternoon)
- La Chaumiere Retirement (Puce) has 0 resident cases and 1 staff case
- Extendicare Tecumseh (Tecumseh) has 8 resident cases and 5 staff case (3 new resident cases)
- Berkshire Care Center (Windsor) has 25 resident case and 23 staff cases (9 new resident cases, 4 new staff cases)
- The Village at St. Clair (Windsor) has 61 resident cases and 40 staff cases (13 new resident cases, 9 new staff cases)
- Country Village (Woodslee) has 2 resident cases and 2 staff cases
- Chartwell St. Clair Beach (Tecumseh) has 36 resident cases and 4 staff case (6 new resident cases, 3 new staff cases)
- Village of Aspen Lake (Windsor) has 1 resident case and 2 staff cases
