The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has announced 171 new cases of COVID-19 as of Saturday, bringing the local total to 5,617.
Cases increased from 5,446 on Friday December 18th to 5,617 on Saturday December 19th and 1,008 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.
The Health Unit says 22 cases are outbreak related, 8 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 1 case is community acquired, and 140 cases are still being investigated.
They say 4,514 people locally have recovered (an increase of 177 recoveries today).
There have been no additional deaths from COVID-19 as of Saturday and the local death toll stands at 95.
Hospitalizations
As of Saturday, the Health Unit lists 74 hospitalizations: 60 people in acute care (an increase of 8 today), and 14 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
