11 New Deaths, 174 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Monday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has announced 174 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Monday, bringing the local total to 7,054.

Cases increased from 6,880 on Sunday December 27th to 7,054 on Monday December 28th and 1,704 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 4 cases are outbreak related, 4 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, and 166 cases are still being investigated.

They say 5,223 people locally have recovered (an increase of 39 recoveries today).

As of Monday, the Health Unit is reporting eleven new deaths from COVID-19, bringing the local death toll to 127. The Health Unit says:

  • 7 are residents from long-term care
    • 1 woman in her 70’s
    • 2 women and 1 man in their 80’s
    • 1 woman and 1 man in their 90’s
    • 1 man in his 100’s
  • 4 are from the community
    • 1 man in his 60’s
    • 1 woman and 1 man in their 70’s
    • 1 man in his 80’s

Hospitalizations

As of Monday, the Health Unit lists 79 hospitalizations: 62 people in acute care, and 17 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.

  • Chartwell Classic Oak Park LaSalle (LaSalle) has 0 resident cases and 1 staff case

  • Berkshire Care Center (Windsor) has 45 resident cases and 38 staff cases
  • The Village at St. Clair (Windsor) has 115 resident cases and 74 staff cases (18 new resident cases, 7 new staff cases)
  • Country Village (Woodslee) has 3 resident cases and 2 staff cases
  • Chartwell St. Clair Beach (Tecumseh) has 54 resident cases and 9 staff cases
  • Village of Aspen Lake (Windsor) has 5 resident cases and 4 staff cases (3 new resident cases)
