1 New Death, 281 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Friday / Saturday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has announced 281 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Friday/Saturday (the Health Unit did not have a daily update on Friday), bringing the local total to 6,745.

Cases increased from 6,464 on Thursday December 24th to 6,745 on Saturday December 26th and 1,503 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 130 of the 281 new cases were reported on December 24th and 151 of the 281 new cases cases were reported on December 25th.

The Health Unit says 64 cases are outbreak related, 2 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 1 cases are community acquired, and 214 cases are still being investigated.

They say 5,127 people locally have recovered (an increase of 67 recoveries today).

As of Saturday, the Health Unit is reporting one new death from COVID-19, bringing the local death toll to 115. The Health Unit says a woman in her 90’s from a long-term care home passed away.

Hospitalizations

As of Saturday, the Health Unit lists 79 hospitalizations: 62 people in acute care (decrease of 1), and 17 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.

  • Chartwell Classic Oak Park LaSalle (LaSalle) has 0 resident cases and 1 staff case
  • Sun Parlour Home (Leamington) has 0 resident cases and 4 staff cases
  • Banwell Gardens Care Centre (Windsor) has 41 resident cases and 17 staff cases (10 new resident cases, 8 new staff cases)
  • The Shoreview at Riverside (Windsor) has 4 resident cases and 5 staff cases
  • La Chaumiere Retirement (Puce) has 0 resident cases and 1 staff case
  • Extendicare Tecumseh (Tecumseh) has 51 resident cases and 21 staff cases (15 new resident cases)
  • Berkshire Care Center (Windsor) has 45 resident cases and 38 staff cases
  • The Village at St. Clair (Windsor) has 97 resident cases and 67 staff cases
  • Country Village (Woodslee) has 3 resident cases and 2 staff cases
  • Chartwell St. Clair Beach (Tecumseh) has 54 resident cases and 9 staff cases (13 new resident cases)
  • Village of Aspen Lake (Windsor) has 2 resident cases and 4 staff cases (1 new staff case)
