Flags at municipal facilities in Leamington have been lowered after Councillor John Jacobs passed away suddenly on Monday.

Councillor Jacobs was serving his third term on Leamington Council.

He was first elected in 2010 and sat on many committees throughout his political career.

Jacobs was in partnership with his brother Ed as an owner/operator of Sun Parlour Emergency Services, Essex County and Chatham-Kent and retired from active service in 2010.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend and Council colleague,” said Mayor Hilda MacDonald. “On behalf of Council and municipal staff, I would like to express our sincere condolences to John’s wife Donna and family. John was dedicated to serving the people of Leamington and ensuring their concerns and interests were brought forward to the Council table. He will be sadly missed.”

Jacobs is survived by his wife Donna, daughters Beth and Lisa and son John, step daughter Laurie and Tracie and step son John.
