The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has confirmed 3 new cases of COVID-19 as of Friday, bringing the local total to 2,667. They say 2,549 people locally have recovered.
Cases increased from 2,664 on Thursday October 1st to 2,667 on Friday October 2nd and 37 people are currently self-isolating with COVID-19.
The Health Unit says 1 case is travel-related to the United States, 1 case is travel-related from outside of Canada and the United States, and 1 case is community acquired.
There have been no additional deaths due to COVID-19 as of Friday and the local death toll stands at 76.
As of Thursday, the Health Unit lists 1 person as hospitalized with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex, and zero hospitalizations are listed at Windsor Regional Hospital.

The Health Unit says the outbreak at the Dolce Vita retirement home has now ended.
Weekly Epidemiological Summary
Dr. Wajid Ahmed, Medical Officer of Health says Windsor-Essex continues to see low cases overall; the primary source of exposure continues to be close contact with confirmed cases; hospitalizations and ICU occupancy are low; day-over-day doubling time in Windsor-Essex is better compared to the province and nationally; and the current rate of transmission (R0) is 0.44 indicating a decrease in transmission in Windsor-Essex.
