Work will soon start on the aquatic habitat and other areas at Lakeview Park in Lakeshore.
The municipality recently received a $150,000 grant from Swim Drink Fish Canada which is enabling the them to begin site restoration work to improve the water quality and shoreline conditions, and enhance the aquatic habitat at Lakeview Park.
One of the main goals of the restoration project is to remove the invasive phragmites, restore the shoreline with native species and improve the aquatic habitat.
Key natural features found at Lakeview Park include Barn Swallows (threatened species), Cliff Swallows, Map Turtles (special concern species), Northern Watersnakes and Kentucky Coffee trees (threatened species). The improvements will assist in the survival of these species.
