Windsor and Essex County will continue to remain in Stage 2 of reopening and will not move into Stage 3 this week, the province confirmed Monday afternoon.

“For the other regions who entered Stage 2 later in the process, please be patient, we’ll get there very shortly,” Premier Doug Ford said at a news conference.

Windsor and Essex County joins Peel Public Health and Toronto Public Health remaining in Stage 2.

The province says the following public health unit regions will be allowed to move into Stage 3 on Friday, July 24th at 12:01am, 2020:

  • Durham Region Health Department;
  • Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit;
  • Halton Region Health Department;
  • Hamilton Public Health Services;
  • Lambton Health Unit;
  • Niagara Region Public Health Department; and
  • York Region Public Health Services.

Businesses and public spaces that will be allowed to reopen in Stage 3 regions include dine-in restaurants, bars, gyms and fitness centres, personal care services, live shows, performing arts and movie theatres, casinos, live sporting events, tour and guide services, and recreational facilities and activities, among others.

The province says they will “continue to assess trends in the public health indicators” to determine when Windsor Essex and other public health unit regions can move to Stage 3.
