6 New Cases Of COVID-19, 1 New Outbreak In Windsor Essex As Of Sunday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has confirmed 6 new cases of COVID-19 as of Sunday, bringing the local total to 1,800. They say 1,185 people locally have recovered.

Cases increased from 1,794 on Saturday July 11th to 1,800 on Sunday July 12th.

The Health Unit says all 6 of the cases are from the agri-farm sector.

There have been no additional deaths due to COVID-19 as of Sunday and the local death toll stands at 68.

The Health Unit says there is one new outbreak at a retirement home as of Sunday.  Augustine Villas on Spruce Street North in Kingsville is under outbreak after one staff member tested positive.  Riverside Place and Devonshire Retirement Residence remain under outbreak.

Six workplaces are under outbreak as of Sunday. One manufacturing facility and one agri-farm in Leamington are under outbreak, and four agri-farms in Kingsville are under outbreak.

A workplace outbreak is declared when two or more employees test positive for COVID-19 within a reasonable timeline to suspect transmission in the workplace, according to the Health Unit.
