Tecumseh Mall is reopening on Monday, May 4th, 2020 for essential stores and services only, mall officials announced Friday evening.

“At Tecumseh Mall, we want to assure our customers that we are taking every precaution as we begin to open our doors,” says Debra McVeety, Tecumseh Mall General Manager and Director of Leasing. “We will ensure that the centre is clean and sanitized with special attention paid to high-touch areas like table tops and door handles.”

McVeety says mall tenants “will also take special care to ensure the safety of our customers and their staff.”

“We encourage everyone to take personal precautions, to stay home if they are feeling unwell and practice physical distancing,” she said. “We are opening as per the provincial guidelines to support essential business and provide the public access to those services. This pandemic has shown us that we are truly all in this together Let’s do everything we can to flatten the curve as we begin to heal as a community and move toward our new normal safely.”

Tecumseh Mall, along with Devonshire Mall, had been ordered to close by the City of Windsor as of March 20th, with the exception of pharmacies, grocery stores, restaurants with liquor licences, stores not physically connected, and stores without access from inside the malls.  That order was not renewed on Monday, April 27th, and allowed the malls to begin reopening under provincial regulations.

McVeety says the following measures will be in place at Tecumseh Mall:

  • Hours of operation 12:00pm to 5:00pm, Monday through Saturday.
  • Closed Sunday until further notice.
  • Public access will be available only through the mall doors closest to Marshalls and HomeSense.
  • Tenants are required to practice proper physical distancing and take precautions as per government standards.
  • Schedules will be adjusted to ensure the centre is properly cleaned and maintained.
  • Food Court seating area will remain closed.
  • Mall walking will not be permitted.

The following services are already open, or will be open Monday:

  • Shoppers Drug Mart 519-945-2371
  • Giant Tiger 519-948-5375
  • LCBO 519-944-4014
  • Pet Smart 226-221-9527
  • East Side Mario’s 519-945-1800
  • Smoke and Spice Southern BBQ 519-252-4999
  • Showcase 519-945-1919
  • Your Neighborhood Credit Union 519-258-3890

Tecumseh Mall officials say customers are encouraged to contact stores directly to ensure they are open before visiting.

“The health and safety of our customers, tenants, employees and our community are our top priority,” says McVeety. “At this time, we are reminding everyone to visit only for essential needs, take personal protective precautions and to practice safe physical distancing.”

“We will continue to operate safely within the protocol and guidelines set out by the Province of Ontario and the City of Windsor,” she said.

McVeety says customers can visit www.tecumsehmall.com for updates and information.
