9 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex As Of Thursday Morning

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has confirmed 9 additional cases of COVID-19 as of Thursday morning, bringing the local total to 674. They said 229 people locally have recovered.
Cases increased from 665 on Wednesday May 6th to 674 on Thursday May 7th.
The Health Unit says there have been no additional deaths as of Thursday and the local death toll stands at 57.
Of the 57 total, local deaths, the Health Unit says 43 deaths have been residents of long-term care and retirement homes.
The Health Unit says another long term care home, Chartwell Kingsville, now has an outbreak after one resident tested positive for COVID-19.
The Health Unit says there are 11 total facilities with outbreaks: Chartwell Kingsville joins Chartwell Oak Park LaSalle, Berkshire Care Centre, Village at St. Clair, Extendicare Southwood Lakes, Franklin Gardens, Sun Parlour Home, Heron Terrace, Lifetimes on Riverside, AMICA at Windsor, and Country Village Homes.
As of Thursday morning 9,379 tests have been conducted and 1,193 tests are still pending.
