Windsor’s unemployment rate jumped to 10.5% in March according to Statistic Canada, as hundreds of businesses were forced to close in the second half due to COVID-19.
The rate sat at 8.3% in February.
Windsor’s jobless rate represents the entire Windsor-Essex census area.
Overall in Canada, over a million jobs were lost, with the unemployment rate jumping 2.2% to 7.8%.
