The Essex Region Conservation has developed a variety of environmental and human history themed educational resources to support students, parents and teachers with continued at-home learning,

“As April is Earth Month, we generally welcome thousands of students to our Conservation Areas for outdoor education field trips and perform our Earth Day Travelling Road Show at school assemblies across the region,” says Danielle Breault Stuebing, ERCA’s Director of Communications & Outreach. “We wanted to do our part to help parents and educators who are transitioning to a learn-at-home model share those environmental and human heritage themed messages with their children and students.”

The materials have been developed by ERCA’s Environmental Educators and include resources to start a nature journal and go on a sound safari from the safety of home. These activities encourage ecological literacy and investigation skills, while also allowing students to flex their creative muscles. The suite of resources is equipped with activities for grades 1-8, and new content will be added to both units weekly. On Friday, ERCA launched its ‘Earth-E Month’ event, with new environmental activities, videos and challenges to be added daily.

Resources can be found online at https://essexregionconservation.ca/education-events/education-resources/.
