The Town of LaSalle will host activities as planned at the Vollmer Culture and Recreation Complex over the March Break week.

The town says that following advice of the Windsor Essex County Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Wajid Ahmed, there is no need to close recreation facilities at this time. There are currently no cases of 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Windsor and Essex County. The overall risk is low for residents of Windsor and Essex County.

March Break activities include day camp, recreational swimming and public skating. No new registrations for day camp are being accepted at this time. In addition, the Youth Dance scheduled for tonight, March 13, will take place as scheduled.

Recreational swimming and public skating participants are encouraged to register in advance at www.lasalle.ca/register.

The town will not be accepting private rentals of any kind, including ice rentals. Regular programs in the pool, the fitness centre and the indoor walking track will operate as regularly scheduled.

Many local, provincial and national organizations and/or groups have cancelled their activities at the current time. Some of those activities usually take place at the Vollmer Complex: the playoffs for the LaSalle Vipers have been cancelled, all minor hockey and skating programs are cancelled and the Play for a Cure event has been postponed.

The Town of LaSalle’s Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) continues to be in a routine monitoring stage, and staff are consulting with the Windsor Essex County Health Unit, the County of Essex, local municipalities and first responder agencies to ensure we are prepared to respond to the challenges and concerns of a potential COVID-19 outbreak in Windsor-Essex.The health and safety of our residents, staff and visitors is high priority. Preventative measures will be maintained as required, including enhanced cleaning practices.
