Starting Thursday, no visitors will be allowed at Erie Shore HealthCare in Leamington.
“The situation surrounding COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) continues to evolve rapidly. ESHC is now implementing further restrictions on visitation within the Hospital. Please know, the health and safety of our patients, their families, and our staff remains a top priority for ESHC,” said Arms Bumanlag, Director of Communications & Public Relations.
Exceptions to the policy will be made for caregivers in certain situations including Maternal-Newborn patients, ICU patients and Palliative Care patients
Any approved visitor will undergo a screening for illness and risk factors for COVID-19. They will need to provide their contact information in the event that contact tracing becomes necessary. Phone and video calls to patients are welcome and encouraged.
“We take these proactive precautions to protect our patients, staff, and the communities we serve. We are sensitive to the separation this restriction causes our patients and their loved ones, but we believe this measure of protection is essential at this time to keep people safe with the spread of COVID-19 within our communities,” said Bumanlag.
