The Town of LaSalle declared a State of Emergency today taking proactive and precautionary measures in order to prepare for the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are in unprecedented times and we need to ensure that we have access to any and all resources that may be available to us. We are making this declaration to reinforce the urgency of the situation. We ask the residents of LaSalle to exercise precautions and take every measure possible to help slow the spread of COVID-19,” said Mayor Marc Bondy.

Declaring the State of Emergency allows for municipalities to prepare by limiting activities to essential services, ensuring they have the flexibility to mobilize appropriate resources as needs arise, for not only COVID-19, but also for other possible issues such as overland flooding, as water levels locally remain at record highs.

The Town of LaSalle has made some service level changes including the closure of municipal facilities to the public. These changes have been undertaken out of an abundance of caution to help mitigate the risk of transmission of COVID-19 within our community. Our municipal staff are available to assist the public by phone, email or appointment. Due to these changes, response and wait times may be longer than usual.
