Significant upgrades and maintenance are planned this summer at the indoor aquatic centre at the Vollmer Complex that will see the centre closed from Friday, June 26th to Monday, September 7th, 2020.

Many of the aquatic programs will be scheduled at the LaSalle Outdoor Pool, including swim lessons, private swim lessons, lap swims/water walking, aquafitness and recreational swimming.

“We will be increasing the amount of programming at the outdoor pool this summer. We expect that many of our patrons will take advantage of our programming at the outdoor pool. We are fortunate to have both indoor and outdoor pools in our community so that we can still offer programming when one is closed,” said Patti Funaro, Manager of Recreation. Typically, and weather-permitting, the outdoor pool is open at the end of June to the end of September.

The town says that for the last few years, the aquatic centre has been closed in the month of September to complete annual maintenance like general cleaning and repairs, painting, upgrades to the ductwork and energy efficiencies.

In addition to the general maintenance, this summer the HVAC system is being replaced, the entire aquatic facility is being painted, and work is being done in the change rooms.

“It is unfortunate that we need to shut down the aquatic centre for the summer, but these are major upgrades to the facility,” said Mark Masanovich, Manager of Facilities. “The Vollmer Complex opened in 2008, and these are the first major maintenance upgrades made in the aquatic centre. Once completed over the summer, we will see an improvement in the indoor environment and the aesthetics of the facility.”
