Lowe’s Canada Windsor East has donated $14,445.30 to the Brain Injury Association of Windsor and Essex County through its fundraising efforts as part of its 2019 Heroes Campaign.
The donation will be used to purchase home renovation materials and appliances for those with an acquired brain injury.
“According to Brain Injury Canada, acquired brain injuries currently impact about 1.5 million Canadians and every year another 160,000 people experience an acquired brain injury. Every year in Ontario there are over 30,000 car collisions where roughly 50,000 drivers, passengers, cyclists and/or pedestrians suffer personal injuries. A vast majority are minor but hundreds are considered major and may result in permanent disability. This funding will help provide needed support to those in our community who have survived a brain injury. We have been able to provide building materials and new appliances to 16 survivors through this donation,” said Anna Jurak, Executive Director of BIAWE.
