Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Windsor and Essex county warning of significant snowfall on the way this weekend.

An approaching low pressure system will bring snowfall to Southwestern Ontario beginning overnight Friday.

Total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6 inches) are expected.

Snow is expected to transition to rain late Saturday. Strong winds up to 60 km/h may also create areas of local blowing snow.

The snow or rain will change to flurries overnight Saturday night.
