The Royal Canadian Naval Association is looking to add a second phase to the existing 1996 memorial located in Dieppe Park.
The proposal will see granite interpretation panels with text and illustrations describing the contributions and sacrifices of the members of the Royal Canadian Navy during World War I 1914-1918, World War II 1939-1945, Korea 1950-1953, Cold War 1950–1990, and Afghanistan 2002-2014.
The proposed location of the second phase of the memorial is immediately west of the original monument.
The estimated cost to manufacture, supply and install the granite panels is $35,000 and the estimated cost to install the foundation and associated site work, engineering and administrative costs are $25,000 for a total project budget of $60,000.
The city is being asked to city cover the costs of the necessary site work with the funds available in the 2019 Capital Budget.
The project goes to City Council on January 6th.
