Hello time traveller!!

The information listed below is likely outdated and has been preserved for archival purposes.

The Windsor-Essex Medical Officer of Health is calling for the complete evacuation of the Westcourt Place building on Chatham Street due to lack of power, heat and water after a fire in the parking garage earlier this morning.

Many residents of the 21-story building left voluntarily early this morning and City of Windsor and Red Cross set up a temporary reception centre at 400 City Hall Square west for those displaced, and food and shelter were provided to approximately 45 Westcourt Place residents.

ENWIN crews are working on restoring power, but it is unlikely to be restored and inspected this evening so fire fighters are moving door-to-door evacuating the building.

The first option of all residents is to find temporary accommodations with family or friends. For those who can’t make their own arrangements, the City and Red Cross are setting up a reception centre with cots and other supplies at the WFCU Centre.

Residents from Westcourt Place are asked to come to the 400 building at 400 City Hall Square west as soon as possible to register for assistance. They will then be transported by transit bus to the WFCU centre for the night.

It is unknown at this time how long the building will be closed.
