Crissy

Breed: Long-haired Chihuahua Mix
DOB: August 1, 2017
Weight: 10 lbs
Sex: Female
Energy Level: high energy
Adoption Fee: $375.00

Requirements:
-fully secured fenced yard (no electric fence)
-no apartments
-if another dog in the home, must be an active dog that is less than 40 lbs

Pup-sonality:
Crissy is a magnificent long-haired Chihuahua mix with lots of energy and lots of love to give. She is a super good girl who is crate-trained and house-trained. She is so loving and wants to give a thousand kisses. She loves playing outside and going for walks, but sometimes needs guidance sharing food or toys with other dogs. Crissy sleeps through the night and prefers to sleep in her human’s bed all night. She can be a “big suck”, always wanting to know where her humans are and soaking up all the attention you can give her. Crissy is a great little co-pilot and loves going for car rides. Crissy is highly trainable, and the right family could help her learn good behaviours and some neat tricks too. She loves a good party but is also a good little snuggle-bug when the day is done. Crissy is just so sweet and so beautiful, and deserves a happy, loving home.

Medical Note: When Crissy was rescued, she tested positive for heartworm, but has since been successfully treated with immiticide while in Canada. She will require a standard heartworm test in March 2020 as follow-up. Crissy must remain on monthly heartworm preventative for the rest of her life to ensure there is no recurrence of infection. Crissy is one of the lucky ones as heartworm positive dogs are the first to lose their life in a high-kill shelter. Heartworm is so easily prevented and should not mean the end of an otherwise healthy dog’s life. We rescue as many as we can as they deserve to live their fullest and happiest life with humans that love and care for them.

All dogs available for adoption with Second Chance Animal Rescue Windsor-Essex come fully vaccinated, including lepto, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (and are on heartworm/flea preventative while in our care). At adoption, adopters receive a 6-week free trial of pet insurance.
