Energy Investments Coming To Leamington And Essex County

A major investments to support the growth of the greenhouse, industrial and residential sectors in Essex County was announced Thursday by Hydro One and the Independent Electricity System Operator.
The a multi-stage investment to increase and improve the power supply to Essex County includes an investment of up to $150 million in a new transmission line from Chatham to Lakeshore.
Hydro One’s additional investments over the next several years include new transmission station in Leamington, which is now in service, an additional transmission station in Leamington, which will be in service next year, two new stations in Lakeshore, which are currently in planning stages; and upgrading transmission equipment in Kingsville and Tecumseh.
An additional $12 million will be invested in new smart technologies, such as remote switches and fault indicators, pole replacements and hazardous tree trimming to reduce the number, size and duration of power outages in Essex County.
