The John Muir Branch officially opened to the public Saturday with a ribbon cutting.

The 7,400 sq. ft. branch opened in the former 1921 Sandwich Fire Hall and Stable.  It replaces the Brock school location, that is now home to the local history collection from the Central downtown library.

Muir was Vice-Principal of General Brock Public School for four years in the 1970s and returned as principal from 1981 to 1987 and immediately became a leader in advocating for a public library in Sandwich.  Muir passed away in July, 2016.
