The Town of Tecumseh is making sandbags available to property owners living adjacent to Lake St. Clair and Pike Creek.
Owners along the north side of Riverside Drive from the City of Windsor limit to Pike Creek, and along Pike Creek from Lake St. Clair to the VIA Rail line can pick-up 100 sandbags at no cost.
Bags can be picked up at the Tecumseh Arena, 12021 McNorton Street on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8am to 4pm and on Sunday and Monday from 8am to noon.
Following the long weekend, hours of pick-up will be 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Photo identification showing proof of address must be provided to collect the sandbags.
Sand is available in the Lakewood Park South parking lot.
Owners are required to bring their own shovels and fill the bags themselves. Volunteers are being organized to assist with bag filling and loading. Sandbags not provided by the Town may be filled at this location as well.
Examples of sandbag walls will be on display in the parking lot to demonstrate how to build effective protection.
