The opening date of the new John Muir Branch located in the historic 1921 Sandwich Fire Hall and stable on Mill Street has been set.
In a report going to the library board, CEO Kitty Pope says that the 12,000 book collection will be moved to the starting on June 24th until 28th.
The library will quietly open for service on Saturday, June 29th without the tower open, as it will still be under construction.
The Grand Opening is set for Saturday, July 20th.
Once the Brock school location has been vacated, the local history collection from Central downtown will be moved there.
Construction began on the $5,482,855 project on January 15th, 2018 is about 85% complete with some electrical and drywalling left as well as cleaning the exterior. The last work to be completed will be landscaping, fencing, and the drying tower.
