Improvements are coming to McAuliffe Park in Tecumseh.

Starting on May 21st,  Vince Ferro Construction will begin to renovate and expand the washroom facilities at  the busy park.

“McAuliffe Park has become a popular park in Town with a number of different activities going on,” said Gary McNamara, Mayor of Tecumseh. “Improvements to the Park were needed and we are pleased they will be completed this summer.”

McAuliffe Park, located off St. Alphonse Avenue north of County Road 42, has seen an increase in use due to expansion of McAuliffe Park Sports Group’s programming.

The Park has a lighted ball diamond, barrier free playground equipment and two picnic shelter areas. A splash pad is planned for the park in 2020.

“Existing washroom facilities at the Park are inadequate,” said Paul Anthony, Director of Parks and Recreation. “This work will involve the former Sandwich South Fire Building which will be upgraded to allow for the washroom expansion. We understand this may have an impact on users, however the new facilities will meet the needs of the park for the long-term.”

Work shroud take three months.  During construction, washrooms will be provided via porta-johns in the park.
