Al Diemer is the new uperintendent of Roads in Essex.

Diemer joined the Town of Essex as a Community Services Operator in 1996 and transferred to Public Works in 1999. Since that time, he has held the positions of Operator, Leader, and most recently, Senior Leader, Public Works.

He has completed the Public Works Leadership Development Program and achieved his Certified Roads Supervisor designation in 2018. He is currently working towards his intermediate-level designation in the Certified Roads Supervisor program.

“Al has demonstrated a willingness to continue his education and expand his knowledge to contribute to his work in Public Works,” said Norm Nussio, Manager, Operations and Drainage. “He has been a valuable member of the team and will continue to be a great asset in his new role. We are thrilled to see Al continue his career with the Town of Essex.”

Diemer will have responsibilities for maintenance and operations of public roads, sidewalks, winter control, storm sewers and storm water management facilities, street lights, tree maintenance, signage, and traffic signals. He will also oversee and train staff, assist with long-term infrastructure planning, and respond to public complaints about issues with roads and related infrastructure.
