The Ontario Nurses’ Association is calling the latest round of talks with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit disappointing following the second day of mediated talks.

The nurses have been working without a contract since March 31st, 2018

“We are deeply disappointed that management has not made any significant movement on crucial issues for this group of 80 nurses who provide care
to the most vulnerable people in our communities, despite getting a nearly five percent increase in municipal funding for the Health Unit this year,” said the association in an emailed statement.

The nurses will vote on the Heath Units final offer on Thursday, March 7th.

As of midnight on Friday, March 8th Nurse Practitioners, Public Health Nurses, and Registered Practical Nurses at the Health Unit could be locked out or forced to withdraw their services.

“We encourage Health Unit management to come back to the table to negotiate a fair collective agreement for nurses before next Thursday to avoid a strike,” the statement read.
