Essex Fire and Rescue Services honoured a number of long-serving local firefighters this past Wednesday.

In total, 15 firefighters who represent over 365 years of service, were recognized at the event.

“Essex Fire and Rescue is very fortunate to have so many dedicated firefighters willing to serve their community,” said Chief Rick Arnel. “The event is all about recognizing those firefighters for their many years of sacrifice.”

Federal Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal for 20 Years of Service:

• Firefighter Trevor Menard

• Firefighter Tom Abbott

• Captain Joe Meloche

• Firefighter Shawn Marontate

• Assistant Fire Chief Jason Pillon

• Firefighter Robert Archambault

• Firefighter Chris Meloche

• District Chief Ed Lepain

Ontario Long Service Medal for 25 Years of Service:

• Firefighter Robert Welzel

• Firefighter Greg Wright

Federal Fire Services Exemplary Service Ribbon for 30 Years of Service:

• Firefighter Rick Balind

• Captain Rudy Neufeld

• District Chief Elwood Defour

Ontario Long Service Ribbon for 35 years of Service:
