The Essex Region Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch.
With predicted rainfall between 25 mm and 55 mm over the next 24 hours combined with saturated soil conditions, officials say that a possibility of flooding exists along watercourses and low-lying areas across the region.
Additionally, winds are expected to remain in their current northeast direction with sustained speeds ranging from 10 to 15 km/hr and gusts up to 20 km/hr until Thursday evening, and there is a possibility for near shore erosion with wave overtopping and spray.
Residents along the Lake Erie shoreline in the Municipality of Leamington between Wheatley Harbor and the tip of Point Pelee, as well as the north and east shoreline of Pelee Island have the potential to be impacted by these conditions.
