The Arts Council Windsor & Region recently surveyed candidates in Windsor-Essex about their perspectives on the opportunities and challenges facing the arts, culture and heritage sector in the region.

The six question survey was shared to all municipal candidates running in Windsor, Lakeshore, LaSalle, Essex, Kingsville, Tecumseh, Leamington, Amherstburg and Pelee Island.

Candidates were asked to share their thoughts on how to grow the arts and culture sector, how to attract artists and cultural workers to the region, how they plan to advocate for artists and art organizations, and how arts, culture and heritage contributes to boosting tourism in Windsor-Essex.

“The goal of this project is twofold: We want those involved in the arts and culture community in Windsor-Essex to know where our potential leaders stand on the issues facing the sector and we want our leaders to understand the important of arts, culture and heritage to the wellbeing of our community and economy based on actual feedback from our community,” says ACWR Director of Public Programs & Advocacy, Julie Tucker.
