The victim of a house fire on Wednesday has been identified.

A statement by University of Windsor president Alan Wildeman identified him as 19-year-old Andrew Kraayenbrink.

“Our sympathies are extended to the family of the deceased. The University, with the assistance of the Red Cross, will be doing all it can to provide assistance to those who survived. I want to sincerely thank University staff and neighbourhood residents who are reaching out to provide assistance to those affected by this terrible tragedy,” said Wildeman Thursday afternoon.

Kraayenbrink was a second-year engineering student at the university, and graduated from Wallaceburg District Secondary School in June 2015.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 29th, 2016 at 1pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Chatham.
